Unusual and
dreamlike photographs, which you never saw before. This is a
book, which rescues other books, that otherwise would have
disappeared without a trace, makuliert?, landed up as
rubbish.
Each day every city-cleaning disposes" many tons of
books. Instead of this, 7000 books were burnt in a public
performance. Single pages were rescued, taken from Blixa
Bargeld or the spectators out of the fire or they were
left.
After that, the book was offered to the publishing house.
And there it is &endash; 7000 new books out of a selection
of these fragments and fire-pictures and essays concerning
the subject fire" by Kain Karawahn (his memories of
childhood, which are connected with fire) and Yoko Tawada
(about the fire of letters") &endash; graphically
designed by Günter Seidel.
The original books are now anonymous but they allow new
literature.
And this was for me - the publisher, who fell in love with
the photographs above all by making the decision to publish
the book - that surprising, surprisingly demanding, serious
or funny, entertaining and touching and amazing (erotic
literature. New literature.
An ideal
christmas-present for booksellers and
book-lovers...
